Let's analyze your pH (Urine) levels

A few questions help us personalize your report.

About pH (Urine)

Urine pH measures the acidity or alkalinity of the urine, normally ranging from 4.5 (acidic) to 8.0 (alkaline). The kidneys use urinary acid excretion as one of the key mechanisms for maintaining blood pH, so urine pH reflects both dietary patterns and systemic acid-base status. Persistently acidic urine (below 5.5) increases the risk of uric acid kidney stones; alkaline urine (above 7.0) is associated with UTI caused by urease-producing bacteria, or with renal tubular acidosis.

What does your pH (Urine) result mean?

High urine pH is seen with UTIs, renal tubular acidosis, or vegetarian diets. Low urine pH occurs with high-protein diets, metabolic acidosis, and promotes uric acid stone formation.

Optimal vs. normal range

Standard range is 4.5-8.0. Functional optimal is 6.0-7.0 for a mixed diet.
