A few questions help us personalize your report.
Prothrombin Time (PT) measures how quickly your blood clots through the extrinsic pathway, evaluating clotting factors VII, X, V, II, and fibrinogen. It is a primary test for monitoring warfarin therapy and assessing liver synthetic function. PT results are typically reported alongside INR for standardized comparison.
Also known as: Pro Time, Prothrombin Time, Prothrombinzeit, Protime, Protrombin zamanı, PT, Tiempo de protrombina, 프로트롬빈 시간
High PT indicates slower clotting from warfarin, vitamin K deficiency, or liver disease. Low PT can indicate hypercoagulable conditions.
Standard range is 11-13.5 seconds. PT is less standardized than INR, which is preferred for warfarin monitoring.
